A large section of people in the west are carefree so they don't take much stress related to studies and follow what their mind says. In turn in east or south-east for example in India, a lot much pressure from childhood is present which persists till you early twenties mostly, that's supposedly the reason that India is the largest producer of engineers.

when we are not bound or answerable to anyone then things are taken lightly.For example lets take a situation where its important for a particular student to attend a particular lecture , but due to a tiresome day its a bit difficult to do so(but not impossible) , then the student who is low on determination will skip the lecture while the student high on motivation will surely push himself to the lecture.

now the impact thing is that people on the other side of the globe try to copy the western people but only in their negative things thus non-sincerity is what I mainly see as the negative impact
