1) by 18th century the press was being made out of metal.

2) By the mid 19th century Richard M Hoe of New York had preferred the power driven cylindrical press which was capable of printing 8,000 sheets per hour. This was particularly useful for printing newspaper.

3) In the late 19th century the offset was developed which could print up to 6 colour at a time.

4) By the turn of the 20th century electrically operated presses accelerated printing operation.
