Answer: In the pre-independence period, the status of women within the country was in a deprived state. The major cause of this was, there was prevalence of male dominance. Due to this, the position of women was undermined.
After Independence, the educational rights of women were promoted and they were made aware of the value of education. The ratio of women pursuing higher studies and taking education improved gradually since then. Separate schools and colleges have been established for women alone.
