Answer:

From the descriptions in the Rg Veda the predominant concern of the Rg Vedic Aryans appears to be animal husbandry, with cows & bulls. There are a number of common professions mentioned, but cows were the overveening concern.

The most widely used term for a daughter in Vedic Sanskrit was duhita, lit. “one who milks”. This term is so ancient & dominant that it appears in practically all Indo-European languages viz. dukhtar in Persian, tochter in German & daughter in English. It appears that milking was the job of the girls & young women of the family.

The expression equivalent to “it is commonly seen”, “it is generally observed” etc is gaunena lit. “among the cows” even in later classical Sanskrit! Again observe how cows form the common denominator!

Cows were primary property, and appear to be the equivalent of currency. Terms for barter were often calculated in number of cows. The reward to a learned Brahmin was “a hundred, freshly anointed, their horn-tips covered in gold”! The word “cow” was often never used; it was understood.

Even as late as the Mahabharata, which occurred at the end of the Dwapara Age, cows were important property. King Virata had a lot of cattle wealth - the Kauravas tried to expose the Pandavas by capturing his cattle.

Thus yes; animal husbandry seems to have been a primary concern for the Rg Vedic Aryans
