Below are some of the main causes of World War 2. The Treaty of Versailles ended World War I between Germany and the Allied Powers. Because Germany had lost the war, the treatywas very harsh against Germany. Germany was forced to "accept the responsibility" of the war damages suffered by the Allies.

Among the causes of World War II were Italian fascism in the 1920s, Japanese militarism and invasion of China in the 1930s, and especially the political takeover in 1933 of Germany by Adolf Hitler and his Nazi Party and its aggressive foreign policy.
