Americans wanted to ban the nomadic life culture of tribal people who lived in Sioux territory and wants them to lead a normal life. This was refused by Sitting Bull. So they continuously tried to capture the territory.

EXPLANATION:

Sitting Bull was considered to be the holy man of Sioux territory. His will is to against white men and completely refused to go to the Indian Territory. His tribes stood beside him. The primary occupation of them is hunting. After the year 1863, U.S army started disturbing the tribal people by invading Lakota Territory.

Several wars and several treaties were signed among the parties, but sitting bull is not well compromised. He is strong in his mindset that his tribes should follow all the customs and they would not move to other territories.
