RYOTI :-People wanted to grow rice on the fertile land where they were forced to grow indigo.Indigo cultivation needed lot of ploughs but the ploughs were busy in rice cultivation.Labour was not easy to mobilise as people were busy in rice cultivation.

NJI:-a)Under nij cultivation the planters faced difficulty in expanding the area.

b)Indigo could be cultivated only on flat fertile land which was already densely

land became infertile, no other crop could not be grown due to plantation of indigo.

Answer:

THE PLANTERS FOUND IT DIFFICULT TO EXPAND THE AREA UNDER NIJ CULTIVATION. INDIGO COULD BE CULTIVATED ONLY ON FERTILE LANDS AND THESE WERE ALREADY DENSELY POPULATED . HENCE THE PLANTERS ATTEMPTED TO LEASE IN THE LAND AROUND THE INDIGO FACTORY AND EVICT PEASANTS FROM THE AREA
