At this time the imperial authority was trying to establish the concept of emperor worship as a unifying force. The state was not able to tolerate his preachings. THus, Jesus was accused of treason against the Roman Empire and of blasphemy against the Jewish faith. He was thus crucified. Christ died by being nailed on to the cross around AD 33.
