Helen was a bright precocious child who attracted people by her self-asserting behavior, eagerness and mischief's before the illness stuck her.. She imitated the people she encountered with. She showed signs of talking at an early age of six months by saying, "How d'ye" and surprised everyone by saying, "Tea, tea, tea" quite clearly. This impressive feat attracted everyone's attention. Being the first child, she garnered care and attention, so much that there were discussions on what to name her; the first child was not supposed to be lightly named. Even at the start of the illness, she was able to pronounce 'water' and make sounds for that word. She even started walking at the day she turned one.
