The reason of decline of the major textile industries in India was because of the British
The British,to expand their own trade,started introducing the clothes and textiles manufactured in UK
In UK the other hand was witnessing emergence of many textile industries and factories
Since the popularity of Indian textiles dominated the market of UK, there were not much sales of the cloth that they manufactured in factories
Therefore they started importing foreign textiles and it became popular and successful in the Indian market
The poor Indian weavers could not compete in the market
Therefore they withdrew from their heir art form that had been providing them work and started opting for other petty jobs
