The reason of resentment among the sepoys was the introduction of the Enfield rifle the loading process of the Enfield rifle involved bringing the cartridge to the mouth and biting off the top greased paper with the teeth there was a rumour that the greesed cartridge had fat of cows or pigs.. the sepoys were now convinced that the introduction of the greased cartridges was deliberate move to the defile the Hindu and Muslim religion as a cow is sacred to Hindus and the the pig is a taboo to the Muslims ... so the sepoys staged an Uprising

Essentially, the Sepoy Rebellion was caused by British insensitivity to the growing dismay amongst the Indian Sepoys, or soldiers, being used to enhance British aims of expansionism and colonialism, the Sepoy soldiers developed a sense of resentment about how British companies were gaining wealth at the hands of the British
And there were also rumours spreading that said that the new cartridges were made out of pig fat which was considered unholy to Hindus and filthy to Muslims
