(1) Democratic form of Government is on in which popular sovereignty practiced where real powers lies in hand of people.

(2) This concept has its origin in the early Greek City Republics and from there it had spread various parts of world.

(3) India was also not exception for it as Ancient India, too, had several Republics such as Mallas, Kapillavastu,Vaishali where Kings were elected by people and they were responsible for the people they governed.

(4) This form of Democracy is called as direct democracy where citizen has direct role in policy making and it was suitable for the City kingdoms of Greek where population was limited. but when population started increasing such direct form of democracy became hard to practice.

(5) Hence Political Scientist floated the Idea of limited Democracy where people would choose their representatives who will take decisions on behalf of the people they belonged.
