The years of 1830-1848 were of great economic crisis in Europe. The first half of these years saw a great increase in the population of Europe. This increase in population needed food. But there were shortages of food which led to pauperism in Europe. Also there was widespread unemployment in Europe. Even there were more seekers of job than employees. The poor rural population moved to cities for bread. This worsened the condition in cities.
