The mansabdars were the people who were appointed to the Mughal Empire. They had their own certain Functions and practices. The Mansabdars were appointed to all civil and military posts except that of judiciary, and the positions like wazir, bakshi, faujdar and Subedar were held by the Mansabdars

The Mansabdar's military responsibilities required him to maintain a specified number of cavalrymen or Sawars. The Mansabdar had to get his sawars registered and horses branded (Chehra and Dagh) ,only then he was given Money by the Bakshi or the military paymaster to pay the Sawars. He also had to reinforce the king during wars.
