Non-cooperation movement was withdrawn by Gandhiji because of the Chauri Chaura incident where a peaceful procession turned violent and the police station was burnt down.
Explanation: Gandhi wanted people to follow non-violence. Some policemen were harmed at Gorakhpur so he called the movement to a stop.

Result of non cooperation movement:

1. The liquor shops were picketed

2. Foreigns goods were boycotted and foreign cloths were burnt.

3. The import of foreign goods in india reduced. It reduced from 102 crore to 57 crore.

4. The merchants and traders also refused to trade in foreign goods.

5. The Indian people discarded the foreign goods and started using khadi dress as a result the number of indian textile mills increased
