I guess you got a social exam coming. Same here  T_T.....

From what I have revised, these situations are in the lesson's subtopic 2, titled  Hitler's Rise to Power. Here are they :

  • The crisis in economy, society and polity, such as Political radicalisation, and the Fall of the German Mark, formed the background to Hitler's rise to power.
  • The German defeat in World War I made him horrified and the humiliating Versailles treaty made him furious.
  • To make Germany to regain its respect. he joined a small group named the German Workers' Party in 1919. He subsequently took over the organisation and renamed it as the National Socialist German Workers' Party. This came to be known as the Nazi Party.
  • Hitler made several attempts to make Germany more powerful than ever. It was during the Great Depression that Nazism became a mass movement ( the Wall Street Crash ), and secured the most votes.
  • The Nazi propaganda also projected Hitler as a messiah and a saviour. Through the propaganda, Hitler got mass popularity. His style of politics also contributed to his popularity.
  • On 30 January, 1933, Hitler was offered the Chancellorship by the then President, Hindenburg. Having acquired power, Hitler set out to dismantle the structures of democratic rule.
  • In the following events that followed, Hitler suspended Civic Rights indefinitely through the Fire Decree of 28 February 1933, which was passed after the Reichstag had been burned down.
  • On 3 March 1933, the famous Enabling Act was passed, which established dictatorship in Germany. Of course, Hitler was the dictator. All political parties were banned except for the Nazi Party and its affiliates, thus making it an single-party country. The Act gave Hitler the powers to sideline the Parliament and rule by decree.

This is how Adolf Hitler rose to power through the economic, political and societal crises that happened in Germany.

All the best!!
