Causes of French Revolution:-
- Financial Crises araised due to long years of war with England which had drained away the financial resources in France.
- The Rise of the Bourgeoisie.
- Increase in taxes mainly for the third estate to meet the state's regular expenses, such as maintaining the army, the court, government offices etc
- The increase in the share of taxes called Tithes from the peasants and members of third estate by the Church Society or Clergy.
- The 18th century witnessed the emergency of new social groups which is collectively known as The Middle Class.
- Enlightenment ideas, Economic Troubles, Weak Leader, Meeting of the Estates General, National Assembly, and Tennis Court Oath.
- And new philosophies by people like John Locke and Jean Jacques Rousseau who envisaged a society based on freedom, equal laws and opportunities for all.
