Social condition - Russian society before 1905 was divided into 3 classes - the clergy, nobility and peasants. The condition of peasants was pathetic. They cultivated most of the land. But nobility, the Crown and the orthodox church owned large properties. And peasants had to pay redemption dues. There was great unrest among peasants. They wanted the land of the nobles and fought for them.
Economic conditions - About 80% of Russian empire's population earned their living from agriculture. Prominent industrial areas were St. Petersburg and Moscow. Unemployment was common phenomenon in Russia before 1905.
Political conditions - Tsar Nicholas ll believed in Devine rights of Kings. People were not satisfied with his governance. Besides territory around Moscow, the Russian empire included current day Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, parts of Poland and Ukraine
