What were the sources of earning of mansabdar

The Mansabdari system was the administrative system of the Mughal Empire introduced by Akbar. The lowest mansab was 10; at the end of the reign the highest mansab was raised to 12,000. Mansabdars belonged to bothcivil and military department and there earning source was public and mostly tribal.

The salary of a Mansabdar was fixed according to their numerical value like their rank.  

During the era of Mughals they enrolled every citizens to the government job and called them as Mansabdars.

During the rule of Akbar the salary of a mansabdar was said to be roughly equal to the Mughal empire’s revenue.
