When Uncle Podger wanted to hang a picture, he assigned tasks to everyone in the family. He sent the girl out to buy nails, and then one of the boys after her to tell her what size to get. Next he sent Will to get his hammer and Tom was sent to get the rule. Somebody had to get the step-ladder and the kitchen-chair, too. Jim was sent to Mr. Goggles to borrow his spirit-level. Maria had to stay back to hold the light; and when the girl came back she was again sent to get the picture cord. Last of all, Tom was called  to hand the picture to Uncle.
