the Indian peasents should plant 15% of their holding with indigo and give the whole 15% indigo as rent to British landlords. Later as the synthetic indigo was developed in Germany so the Indian peasents did not require to grow indigo for that they need to give compensation to the British landlords for the release from the 15% agreement but the Indian peasents did not know about the synthetic indigo and some peasents signed willingly and some didn't and when they got to know about it they felt cheated and wanted their money back
