(I) The word sangam means gathering or association. In the Sangam Age, a series of gathering of poets & scholars took place & vast literary works were produced.

(ii) In the Sangam Age, Tamil Society wasn't organized on the basis of the Vedic Caste System. The sages or the Arivar were the most honoured people.

(iii) In the Sangam Age, taxes levied on land were an important source of income for the state. Tolls were also collected from seaports & trunk roads.
