What were the two broad oppinions regarding the language policy in Vietnam by French?

There where two different opinions about which language should be accepted: French or Vietnamese

1. Supporters of French- Some policymakers emphasize the need to use the French language as the medium of instruction. By learning this language this thought that Vietnamese will be introduced to the culture civilization of France.


2. Supporters of Vietnamese- There where are the group of thinkers who opposed to French being the only medium of instruction. They suggested that Vietnamese be taught in lower class and French in higher classes.
