This defect arises bcoz......
The focal length of the eye lens is too long.
The eyeball becomes too short, so that light rays from the nearby objects, can't be brought focus on the retina.....

(a)weak action of ciliary muscles cause low converging power of lens
(b)the distance between my lens and retina decreases coz of shortening of eyeball or flattening of eye lens
