Mahatma Gandhi thought that the western education was hampering the Indian culture . He also felt that the ideas of western education could modernise the Indian people but could not educate them.
he felt it was ineffective as it stressed on reading and writing rather than prectical knowledge and experiences. He envisioned a national education that will help Indian to realise their self war and dignity. For this, reason he wanted education to be imparted in local languages rather then english
