Hi,
The Constituent Assembly of India was composed of the members who were chosen by indirect election by the members of the Provincial Legislative Assemblies, according to the scheme recommended by the Cabinet Mission. it was representative of the people of Indian by its very nature. The total membership of the Assembly was to be 389. However, as a result of the partition , representatives of some Provinces ceased to be members of the Assembly. As a result, the membership of the Constituent Assembly of India was reduced to 302. They delegated from its inception in1946 till the draft of the Constitution of India was prepared on 26th November, 1949. The Constituional Asssembly was acting as the Parliament of India as it was involved in the law making for the entire nation.
