The three motives of Spain to explore America were (A) to trade with Native Americas (B)to spread Catholicism, and (D)to discover a route to the Pacific Ocean. Trading with Native America was also a way to find El Dorado or spreading Christianity.

It was believed that through North America the route to orient can be found which was known as route to prosperity for valuable silk and spices.
