what what is the difference between hypotonic solution and isotonic solution and hypertonic solution​

  1. hypotonic solution = if the medium surrounding the cell has a higher water concentration than the cell meaning that the cell will gain water by osmosis such solution is called hypotonic solution
  2. isotonic solution = if the medium has exactly the same water concentration as the cell there will be no net movement of water across the cell membrane such solution is called isotonic solution
  3. hypertonic solution = is the medium has a lower water concentration than the cell meaning that it is very concentrated solution the cell will lose water by osmosis such solution is called hypertonic solution
