Relation between momentum and kinetic energy. Note that if a massive particle and a light particle have thesame momentum, the light one will have a lot more kinetic energy. If a light particle and a heavy one have thesame velocity, the heavy one has more kinetic energy.

Momentum is a vector quantity. It has a direction in space, and momentum combines like forces do. Kinetic energy is a scalar quantity. It has no direction in space and combines like regular numbers
