If the birds bones were not hollow:

Hollow bones in birds are filled with air spaces instead of marrow filled as in other animals or mammal.

The absence of hollow bones in birds would lead to the following consequences:

a. Hollow bones help birds to carry their body weight, enabling them to fly for a longer distance, their absence will reduce their carrying capacity.

b. The birds would not get enough oxygen during the flight. Hollow cavities in few bones holds extension to the air sacs from the lungs which helps them to reach out for oxygen needed to fly smoothly and quickly.

c. Absence of hollow bones would mess the movement of the birds. They also provide additional support strength to withstand the rigors of flights and landings too.

In case of ducks, they show waddling movement i.e, short steps with a swaying motion that is very clumsy.
