Hello There!

3 + 4y = 5

Taking 3 to the RHS,

4y = 5 - 3

Subtracting the terms on RHS,

4y = 2

Taking 4 to the RHS,

y = 2/4

Cancelling required terms

y = 1/2

The value of y is 1/2.
