Question :-

What will be k.E of a body when it reaches at its maximum height ?

Answer :-

The kinetic energy will be zero .

Reasons :-

As a body is thrown upwards , the potential energy of the body starts increasing as it gains a certain amount of height.

Infact potential energy increases with increase in height since it is directly proportional to height.

The total mechanical energy is however conserved.

Thus the kinetic energy has to decrease.

K + U is always constant.

When the body reaches maximum height , the value of U is maximum and hence here K is minimum and is equal to zero.

Also at the maximum height the velocity becomes zero for a moment before it again falls back to the Earth.

Therefore kinetic energy is zero at the maximum height .
