What will be single discount equivalent two successive discounts 25% and 24%?

Imagine that you have to buy something worth Rs. x
The shopkeeper gives you 25% discount on that order.
That means you have to pay x(100-25/100)=3x/4 rupees.
Then the shopkeeper decided to give you another discount on the order.
this means you have to pay {(3x/4)X(100-24)/100}=57x/100 rupees.
Now totally, you have a discount of x-(57x/100)=43x/100 rupees.
That means the shopkeeper has given you the total discount of {(43x/100)X100}/x=43%
