Given :

Let , mass of earth be , m .

So , mass of planet X , M=4m .

To Find :

The acceleration due to gravity on the planet .

Solution :

Let , radius of earth is R .

Therefore , radius of new planet is also R .

We know , acceleration due to gravity on earth surface is given by :

g_e=\dfrac{Gm}{R^2}

Now , acceleration on planet X is :

g_x=\dfrac{GM}{R^2}\\\\g_x=\dfrac{G(4m)}{R^2}\\\\g_x=4\times \dfrac{Gm}{R^2}\\\\g_x=4\times g_e

Now , g_e = 9.8\ m/s^2

g_x=4\times 9.8\ m/s^2\\\\g_x=39.2\ m/s^2

Therefore , the acceleration due to gravity on planet x is 39.2\ m/s^2 .

Hence , this is the required solution .
