If we draw a perpendicular from either vertex on small parallel side of length 18 m to the other side of length 28 m.

we will have a right angled triangle with base

= (28 -18)÷2

= 5 m

and hypotenuse equal to 13 m

By pythagoras, 5, 12, and 13 are pythagorean triplet

so the hight of the trapezium is 12 m

area of trapezoid = sum of length of parallel sides ÷2 × hight

= ( 18 + 28)÷2 ×12

= 276 m square
