Answer:

cost of pen= 83/5

cost of pencil= 19/4

Now, to make common denominator,

83/5 × 4/4 = 332/20

and

19/4 × 5/5 = 95/20

So clearly, cost of pen is more.

Difference between their cost = (332-95)/20= 237/20= 11 (and) 17/20

                                          3          83

The cost of a pen = ₹  16 ---- =    -------

                                          5           5

                                           3             19

The cost of a pencil = ₹ 4 -----   =   -------

                                          4               4

                         NOW COMPARE THEM

83/5         OR         19/4  ( Take lcm of 5&4)

1660/20   OR          95/20 ( NOW CUT THEM )

83              OR        4.75

83        >       4.75
