( \sqrt{5}  -  \frac{1}{ \sqrt{5} } ) {}^{2}  \\  =   (\sqrt{5} ) {}^{2}  - 2( \sqrt{5})( \frac{1}{ \sqrt{5} } ) +  (\frac{1}{ \sqrt{5} } ) {}^{2}  \\  = 5 \:  - 2 +  \frac{1}{5}  \\  = 3 \:  +  \frac{1}{5}  \\   =  \frac{15 + 1}{5}  \\  =  \frac{16}{5}
