Hey mate,

RI = $\frac{real_depth}{apparent_depth}$

Substituting, $\frac{4}{3}$ = $\frac{12}{apparent_depth}$

Therefore, Apparent depth = $\frac{12×3}{4}$ = 9

The height of which appears to be raised is 12 - 9 = 3 cm.
