Question :-

  • What will be the current drawn by an electric bulb of 40 W when it is connect to a source of 220v ?

Answer :-

  • Current ( I ) = 0.18 ampere .

Given :-

  • Power = 40 watts
  • Voltage = 220 volts

To find :-

  • What is the current drawn by an electric bulb ?

SoLuTioN :-

As we know that

  • P = V × l

where,

  • P = power
  • V = Voltage
  • l = current

Now, putting the values in the above formula we get,

↠ 40 = 220 × l

↠ l = 40/220

↠ l = 2/11

↠ l = 0.18 ampere

Hence, the current drawn by an electric bulb is 0.18 ampere .

↠ Extra shots :-

  • The flow of electric charges is known as current electricity.
  • Electric current is the rate of flow of charges per unit area per unit time. It is measured in amperes.
  • Unit of charge = columbs
  • Unit of electric current = columbs/sec
  • In S.I system columbs/sec is known as Ampere .
