what will be the greatest number which when divides 227 and 272 leaving the reminders 7 and 8 respectively.

227 minus 7 = 220 , 272 minus 8 264 , so the remainder would be 0

we have to write its factors first,

220 = 2x2x5x11x1

264 = 2x2x2x11x3x1

HCF = 2x2x11

= 4x11

=44
