Answer

area= pi*r^2

radius=r

new radius= r+ (40/100)*r

new radius= 1.4r

new area= pi*(1.4r)^2

increase in area= new area-old area

= 1.96*pi*r^2 - pi*r^2

= pi*r^2(1.96-1)

=0.96*pi*r^2
