Given data : A cuboidal pit 6 m long, 5 m broad and 4m deep at the rate of 15 units per 1000 dm³.

To find : What will be the labour charges for digging a cuboidal pit ?

Solution : Here, a/ct to given data;

  • Length of the pit = 6 m
  • Breadth of the pit = 5 m
  • Depth/Height of the pit = 4 m

Firstly we have to find out the volume of the cuboidal pit, so we use formula of cuboid;

➜ Volume of the pit = length * breadth * height

➜ Volume of the pit = 6 * 5 * 4

➜ Volume of the pit = 30 * 4

➜ Volume of the pit = 120 m³

Hence, volume of the pit is 120 m³.

Here,a/c to given data, charges of digging is at the rate of 15 unit per 1000 dm³.

We know that,

➜ 1 dm³ = 0.001 m³ or 1 m³ = 1000 dm³

Hence,

➜ 1000 dm³ = 1 m³

Hence, the charges of digging is at the rate of 15 unit per m³. {15 unit per 1 m³}

➜ Charges of the digging = Volume of the pit * digging charge per m³

➜ Charges of the digging = 120 * 15

➜ Charges of the digging = 1800 units

Answer : Hence, the labour charges for digging a cuboidal pit is 1800 units.
