Concentration of solution = (Volume of solute/Volume of Solution) * 100

Here,

        Let  Volume of solute = x ml

        Volume of solvent = 400 ml

        Concentration of Solution = 12%

Therefore, Volume of Solution =  Volume of solute + Volume of solvent

                                                   = (x + 400) ml

So, A.T.Q

                     12% =  x/(x + 400) * 100

                     12/100 = x/(x + 400)

                    12(x+400) = 100x

                   12x + 4800 = 100x

                    4800  =  100x -12x

                     4800=88x

                       x =  4800/88

                       x=54.5454_ _ _

                       x= 54.55 ml (approx.)
