Given:

HCl = 18.25 \ gm

\mathrm{H}_{2} \mathrm{O} = 500 \ gm

Solution:

Molality can be defined as the "number of moles" of solute per kilogram of a solvent. In other words, it is the concentration of a solute in a solution.

\bold{\mathrm{Molality =\frac{\text { "Number of moles" of solute }}{\text { "Number of moles" of solution }} \times 1000}}

We also know that, the molecular weight of HCl = 36.5

So, the "number of moles" of solute =\frac{18.25}{36.5}=\frac{1}{2}=0.5

Now, to calculate molality, we use the above equation,

\mathrm{Molality=\frac{0.5}{500} \times 1000=1 \ Molal}
