Ur answer is 12N because the sliding friction between two objects is always less than the static friction between them.

Static friction acts on a body when it is at rest but sliding friction acts on a body when it is sliding on another surface (which means that the body is in motion) . This happens because the value of coefficient of sliding friction (kinetic friction) is always less than that of static friction

Hope this helps!!!
