When two forces act on an object it depends upon the direction and the magnitude of force applied on the object to find the resultant force direction.
If two forces act on the body in the same direction then the net force will be addition of two forces i.e. F1+F2 as shown in the following fig. (a) and (b). If two forces act on the body in opposite direction then the resultant force is subtraction of two forces and direction will be as per the effect of bigger force. As shown in the following fig. (c) and (d).
