Given : straight line 5x + 8y = 10

To Find : new equation if the origin gets shifted to (2,-3)

Solution:

Let say X , Y be coordinated wrt to shifted point ( 2 , -3)

=> X = x - 2   & Y = y  -(-3)

=> x = X + 2   &  y = Y - 3

Original Equation was  5x + 8y = 10

substituting x = X + 2    &   y = Y - 3   will get transformed Equation

=> 5(X + 2) + 8(Y - 3) = 10

=> 5X + 10 + 8Y - 24  = 10

=>5X + 8Y = 24

5X + 8Y = 24 is the transformed equation of straight line 5x + 8y = 10, if the origin gets shifted to (2,-3)
