Given:

  • A sequence is given 3, 12, 33, 72 ?

To Find:

  • Missing number of the sequence.

Solution:

Following pattern is used in the sequence

  1. First digit is cube of 1 + 2 (even number).
  2. second digit is cube of 2 + 4 (previous number + 2).
  3. Third digit is cube of 3 + 4 (previous number + 2).

By applying above pattern to all number we get the last number.

         ⇒   1^3+2 = 1 + 2 = 3

         ⇒    2^3+4 = 8 + 4 = 12

         ⇒   3^3+6 = 27 + 6 = 33

         ⇒    4^3+8 = 64 + 8 = 72

         ⇒    5^3+10 = 125 + 10 = 135

Thus, the missing number is 135.
