because air flow from higher partial pressure to lower...

Therefore, the partial pressure of oxygen in atmospheric air is higher than the oxygen content in alveolar air.


Consequently, partial pressure of carbon dioxide in atmospheric air is lesser than the oxygen content in alveolar air which 0.3 mm Hg and 40 mm Hg respectively.
