According to Partition law: “When a solute is dissolved in two immiscible liquids, in which the solute is soluble, the solute distributes itself between the two liquids in a way that the ratio of its concentration in the two liquid phases is constant.

This can be seen by the equation:

K_{D}=\frac{C_{1}}{C_{2}}

C₁ and C₂, are the concentration of solute in the two phases.

K_{D}, is the partition constant.

Partition Coefficient expression during the association and dissociation of a solute:

Partition Coefficient expression during the association:

K_{D}=\frac{C_{1}}{n\times \sqrt{C_{2}}}

Partition Coefficient expression during the dissociation:

K_{D}=\frac{C_{1}}{C_{2}\times (1-\alpha )} ,

(\alpha ) , is the degree of dissociation.
